Smoke & Stone was written as what I consider a clean Christian fiction paranormal romance. It’s a kissing book, which means there are a few kissing scenes. However, there is no sex, on page or implied, and nothing goes beyond a few swoony smooches in that regard.
However, the book does tackle some serious topics. While it does so in a way that strives to point to light, I know that some scenes or topics may be difficult for some readers. To that end, I’ve provided a list of some of the themes mentioned or dealt with below. If you’d like to read the book but are concerned about a specific scene or topic, please reach out. I’m happy to provide some talking points of those scenes (which would include spoilers) for those that would be more comfortable knowing what’s happening before they get to them.
- Death of loved ones (mentioned/remembered)
- Absentee parent (mentioned/remembered)
- Foster care (mentioned/remembered)
- Gaslighting and very short mentions of physical abuse (on the page)
- Kidnapping and temporary false imprisonment (mentioned and on the page)
- Suicide (mentioned)
- Spiritual oppression/battle (on the page)
